SBIR/STTR Eligibility Requirements (Presented on 10/8/2014)
Eligibility requirements for SBIR/STTR can get confusing – everyone has their own specific situation that needs to be analyzed to ensure that eligibility requirements are met. This webinar covers specific areas of concern for eligibility that all SBIR/STTR applicants should be familiar with, including: Size, Ownership, Control, Facilities, Key Persons, SBIR vs. STTR, and more. Issues can arise for those engaging with a university, are considering using a Primary Investigator (PI) from the university, if the business has outside investors, if the PI is or is not employed full time by the small business, if there is a collaboration with another small business (joint venture), etc. Some rules are different for SBIR and STTR in some cases, and even differ in some aspects from one agency to the next. This webinar will cover the rules for you to consider if your company is eligible to apply for SBIR/STTR. Instruction by BBC ETC. Funded in part through a grant award from the US Small Business Administration.

Building Business Value via the CoreValue Process, Presented by GENEDGE Alliance
Presented by Dean Young, GENEDGE Alliance
Small manufacturers and technology companies are faced with many issues/needs from initial start up to commercialization, and even more challenges as they strive to manage daily business while implementing growth strategies. It is very easy to get caught in the day-to-day, to become overwhelmed and to lose sight of the original vision. One of Stephen Covey's 7 habits, "Begin with the End in Mind," is fundamental. A company needs a vision and a strategy to get there, a road map of sorts. This session will talk about the essential questions you need to answer for your business, help you under understand your business' value today, what the upside could be and what value gaps need to be closed in order to develop your own roadmap. SBIR/STTR companies may find this session of particular interest. GENEDGE will also discuss a special software tool they utilize and their EDGE VA program, which guides leadership teams through a "Value Analysis" process. GENEDGE provides an overview of how this approach has been used by many Virginia companies to diversify into commercial markets, lessen their reliance on the DoD and increase their top line.

Understanding Indirect Cost Rates for Government Contractors & Grantees
This webinar was delivered on 3/6/2018
Duration: 60 Minutes
If you have a cost-reimbursable award, do you know there is a 100% chance of being audited - allowing the government complete visibility into your accounting system and all costs, whether billed to the government or not? The annual "True-Up Report" (also known as an Incurred Cost Submission) is a requirement, and the government's audit of that report is used to negotiate your final indirect rates and the final allowable contract and grant costs for that year. Furthermore, your final negotiated indirect rate is used as a baseline to negotiate future provisional indirect rates, which are used for billing the government - and will determine whether you remain cash flow positive.
