VT team develops novel 3-D printed high-performance polymer that could be used in space

A Virginia Tech team has recently received considerable press on their work in 3D printing, as, notably, their discovery on the mSl of the polyimide Kapton stands as the highest temperature polymer 3D printed. The team has been featured in numerous outlets. Virginia Tech’s work was funded through CRCF in FY2012 to develop a micro-stereolithography (mSl) systems and nanocomposite photopolymers for the fabrication of 3D microscale nanocomposites.

Governor McAuliffe Announces Virginia Tech to Receive $1.1 Million Grant from the Virginia Research Investment Fund

Virginia Tech’s Dr. Rafael Davalos was the recipient of a $1.1M Virginia Research Investment Fund (VRIF) award to support a medical device that will use low-energy electric fields to treat brain tumors. Davalos, through his role in Virginia Tech and spin-out company VoltMed, is the recipient of multiple CRCF awards that has also helped develop this technology to its current stage.

 

Dr. Michael Friedlander Named One of 50 Most Influential Virginians

Dr. Michael Friedlander, VP for Health Sciences and Technology at Virginia Tech and Executive Director of the VT Carilion Research Institute, has been named one of the 50 most influential Virginians by Virginia Business. Friedlander is a multi-solicitation CRCF award recipient, namely for the Eminent Researcher Recruitment Program, through which he has recruited talented and connected researchers to Virginia Tech from institutions across the country, strengthening Tech’s research superiority.

 

Governor Northam Announces Virginia as Recipient of Smart Cities Grant

Governor Ralph Northam today announced that Virginia was been selected as a recipent of a 2018 Readiness Challenge Grant. The grant program, administered by the Smart Cities Council, sought applications from across North America and selected communities that are looking to apply new smart technologies to improve community livability, workability, sustainability, and resilience.
