Project Management & Budget/Cost Proposals for Federal Projects

All Day Event



CIT is pleased to partner with Virginia’s Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) to host these full day training sessions. Each event provides valuable tools to anyone bidding on, managing, and developing budgets for Federal projects. Each session includes an Intro to Federal SBIR Grants, Project Management training, and Budget/Cost Proposal Prep for Federal Projects.

What's Covered:

 

SBIR Intro -- Each sessions starts with a short SBIR Intro session*, available as a stand-alone event for those who only want to attend the free SBIR intro session. SBIR grants provide $150K-$1.5M in early stage R&D for high risk, high payoff projects. Over $3B available each year to small businesses!

 

Project Management -- Learn about a tried and true project management system with a proven approach to realizing on-time, under-budget, high-quality performance projects. For any company with Federal or state funded projects, the need for proper planning, cost estimating and control are universal. In this seminar you will learn how to plan, set up and manage project cost, schedule and technical performance by establishing local, Project Manager-controllable tools to create a successful project culture. Event is designed for Project Managers from firms and projects of all sizes.

 

Crafting Budget/Cost Proposals for Federal Projects -- Accurately estimating and presenting compliant and useful project costs is essential for effective proposals. This portion of the training will cover: Understanding differences/advantages between federal Contracts vs. Grants: Federal cost-estimating requirements; reliable cost-estimating techniques; proper handling & development of price/budget proposal sections; techniques and tools for developing indirect cost estimates. Also covered are relevant, related issues beyond strict cost proposal rules, including the various role(s) of the budget documents in winning awards, accounting system requirements for federal work (DCAA compliance), contract negotiations, project / company audits, and more.

 

INSTRUCTOR: John Davis, COO of JADE Research Corporation, is an in the trenches project management and proposal development professional (long time member of APMP – the Association of Proposal Management Professionals) with more than 30 years experience in federal proposal and project management for hundreds of federally-funded projects. An engineer and R&D project manager - not an accountant - Davis leads this workshop packed with practical, straight forward, actionable information without all the confusing accountant speak or federal contract language.
