NIH SBIR/STTR Proposal Prep & Commercialization Plannning Workshop, Richmond, VA

All Day Event

This 1.5 day workshop presents an in depth guide to writing a compelling NIH SBIR/STTR proposal. The NIH has over $1B available each year via SBIR/STTR, funding early stage, high risk research on projects that have a high potential to make a big impact. Learn how to plan, engage with the NIH, and begin to write a compelling and compliant proposal. This event is especially useful for those targeting the Jan 5 & April 5 2018 NIH SBIR/STTR deadlines. Presented by Becky Aistrop of BBC ETC.

Also speaking will be a rep from the National Cancer Institue regarding insights into writing NIH AIMS sections as well as other tips to engage with NIH and NCI more effectively. 



Nov. 6, 2018:

  • 9:00-11AM -- Intro to SBIR, Compare/Contract various agencies including NSF and NIH, Whats new in SBIR, Tips to Compete more effectively.
  • 11AM-Noon: NIH SBIR/STTR Backgound, funding levels, planning your approach
  • 12:00-12:15PM: Resources available to Virginia based firms to support your SBIR and STTR; an overview of the CIT GAP Fund; Overview of the Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund (CRCF).
  • 12:15-12:45PM: Networking LUNCH provided
  • 12:45PM-4:30PM: NIH SBIR/STTR Proposal Preparation: Details of writing an NIH SBIR/STTR proposal; Telling your story in only 6 pages; Doing your homework; a section by section look at writing your proposal; NIH SBIR/STTR budget preparation.

Nov. 7:
