Entrepreneurial Support in the Greater Lynchburg Region, Sweet Briar, VA

CIT is pleased to collaborate with Sweet Briar College to present this special half-day event. The session will feature overviews of various funding sources available to support R&D and commercialization of technology by small companies and researchers in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Also featured will be an overview of other resources and new programs available from Sweet Briar. Session ends with a special Female Investment Panel and an optional Pitch & Polish Workshop!

-1:15PM-1:45PM: Overview of the Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund (CRCF) FY19 Solicitation Announcement! Learn about the grants for private sector AND Academia! $50K Grants for technology commercialization support! Presented by Nancy Vorona, Vice President, Research & Investment, CIT

-1:45PM-2:15PM: Intro to Federal SBIR/STTR Funding & CIT’s SBIR Support Programs -- Learn how 11 Federal Agencies award $150K-$1.5M in grants to fund early stage research (over $3B each year awarded!). Presented by Robert Brooke, Director, Federal Funding Program, CIT

  • Jennifer O'Daniel, Investment Director, CIT GAP Fund -- Jen will discuss CIT's investment funding programs, including the new Virginia Founders Fund that seeks to invest in co’s across Virginia as well as invest in women, minority, and Veteran owned tech firms.
