The Virginia Department of Transportation presents its next installment of the SmarterRoads Hackathon and Idea Jam series. The two-day event will be held on Tuesday, July 17, through Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 1776's Crystal City Campus.

This 1.5 day workshop presents an in depth guide to writing a compelling NIH SBIR/STTR proposal. The NIH has over $1B available each year via SBIR/STTR, funding early stage, high risk research on projects that have a high potential to make a big impact. Learn how to plan, engage with the NIH, and begin to write a compelling and compliant proposal. This event is especially useful for those targeting the September 5, 2018 NIH SBIR/STTR deadlines. Presented by Becky Aistrop of BBC ETC.

SBIR grants (Small Business Innovation Research) and it's sister STTR grant program (Small Business Technology Transfer) provide $150K - $1.5M in early stage R&D funding for high risk, new technology development. 11 participating federal agencies use this program to fund early stage technology development that will help them meet their missions. SBIR/STTR represents 25% of all seed funding available in the US, with over $2.5B available in 2018.
