Ed Albrigo is President and CEO of the Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) in Virginia. Ed leads CIT in its mission to accelerate innovation commercialization, entrepreneurship and economic growth across the Commonwealth of Virginia. He is responsible for overall strategic planning and execution of the company’s programs. He also leads outreach and collaboration activities with the business, education and government communities to devise ways to propel innovation and economic growth.
Under Ed’s leadership, the company has expanded its venture investing and innovation and business acceleration activities into new areas such as smart infrastructure, cybersecurity and autonomous systems. He also led the company’s founding of the Virginia Founders Fund, a venture fund for Virginia populations, e.g., women, minorities and veterans, underserved by traditional venture capital providers. During his tenure, the company’s flagship fund, the GAP fund, it’s grant program, and it’s MACH37 Cyber Accelerator, have invested over $50M and attracted over $1B in private capital to companies in it’s early stage venture portfolio including numerous autonomous systems startups.
Prior to joining CIT, Ed was COO of The Hilltop Companies, a group of start up financial services and technology consulting companies focused on the financial services industry. Ed joined Hilltop after 15 years as a senior executive with Freddie Mac. Prior to Freddie Mac, Ed held a variety of management and technology positions with companies such as the Booz Allen & Hamilton and CSC. He started his professional career launching spacecraft for NASA.
