Legislation in the 2009 Session of the General Assembly consolidated the responsibilities of the Virginia Research and Technology Advisory Commission (VRTAC) and the Innovative Technology Authority (ITA) into a new entity, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Investment Authority (IEIA). As of July 1, 2009, the Commission ceased to exist.
