CIT Success Stories

CIT is celebrating 20 years of making innovation happen and creating technology-based economic development opportunities for the Commonwealth and Nation.  Its early years focused on enhancing research and transfer activities of Virginia’s universities.  As they  became more successful in carrying out those functions, CIT moved its focus toward new challenges, technologies, entrepreneurs and technology companies that make innovation happen.  Here are some of our success stories from across the Commonwealth – and beyond:

Shenandoah Broadband

The Town of Shenandoah is a rural community of 2,300, tucked between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Massanutten Ridge. In 2002, town leaders and economic development officials realized the town needed broadband access, but they needed guidance and financial assistance as they pursued grants for broadband deployment. When 4FrontSecurity CEO Chris Parker needed additional capital for business expansion, he submitted his business plan to the CIT GAP Fund.
