R&D Funding & Resources for Virginia Based Tech Entrepreneurs

All Day Event



This one day forum presents information on multiple funding sources available to help early stage technology firms in Virginia develop their technology and move it towards commercialization. From Federal SBIR and STTR grant funding, to special grants and investment funding only available to Virginia firms, and special financing programs, this event is specifically geared towards tech based entrepreneurs. Over a dozen support resources will also be on hand at a special reception.

AGENDA Highlights:

 

Intro to SBIR/STTR Grants -- the Federal SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) grant programs -- Tips on how to improve you funding chances, how to collaborate for effective proposals, and how to consider SBIR as an important business development strategy.  Presented by John Davis of The SBIR Resource Center.

CIT GAP Funds -- $50K-$200K investments in high growth potential companies.  Presented by Tom Weithman, CIT GAP Funds

Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund -- $50K-$100K Grants for Virginia's small tech based companies and university. Presented by Bob Stolle, CIT.

SBIR/STTR Support from CIT -- grants to help hire professional consultants, low cost training, webinars, mentoring, and more. Presented by Robert Brooke, CIT

Venture Capital for Early Stage Tech Entrepreneurs -- Discussion of current trends, tips, what it takes to be considered, etc.

Virginia Community Capital -- VCC supports job creation and business growth for small businesses via flexible loan capital and consulting assistance. Learn how these programs work, qualifications, and next steps. Presented by Dawn DeHart, Senior Loan Officer, VCC

Virginia State Business Financing Authority -- VSBFA helps Virginia's businesses through an extensive portfolio of financing programs, primarily by helping Virginia's financial institutions offer business loans that they might not be able to offer. Learn the scope of their support, the types of purchases they help with, and the qualifications needed. Presented by Scott Parsons, Executive Director, Virginia Small Business Financing Authority

Crowd funding in Virginia -- Scott Parsons, Virginia Small Business Financing Authority

Virginia Tobacco Commission -- special matching funds for SBIR/STTR winners. Presented by Evan Feinman, Executive Director

MACH37 Cyber Security Accelerator -- Accelerator program and funding for startup cyber security co's.
