NIH SBIR/STTR Proposal Prep Workshop

This 1.5 day workshop presents an in depth guide to writing a compelling NIH SBIR/STTR proposal. The NIH has over $800M available each year via SBIR/STTR, funding early stage, high risk research on projects that have a high potential to make a big impact. Learn how to plan, engage with the NIH, and begin to write a compelling and compliant proposal. This event is especially useful for those targeting the January 2018 deadlines. Presented by Lisa Kurek of BBC ETC.

October 17:

  • 8:30AM-9:30AM:  Intro to SBIR
  • 9:30-11:45AM: NIH SBIR/STTR Backgound, funding levels, planning your approach
  • 11:45AM-12:15PM: Resources available to Virginia based firms to support your SBIR and STTR; an overview of the CIT GAP Fund; Overview of the Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund (CRCF) grant program and info on the next solicitation.
  • 12:15-12:45PM: Networking LUNCH provided
  • 12:45PM-4:00PM: NIH SBIR/STTR Proposal Preparation: Details of writing an NIH SBIR/STTR proposal; Telling your story in only 6 pages; Doing your homework; a section by section look at writing your proposal; NIH SBIR/STTR budget preparation.

October 18:

  • 8:30AM-11:30AM: NIH SBIR/STTR Commercialization Plan Development
  • 11:30AM-12:30PM: NIH SBIR/STTR Program Managers Panel: Reps from several Institutes will present overviews on their programs, and be available for one on one discussions at the concussion of the event. Confirmed Agencies include:
