“SBIR/STTR Competitive Checklist Workshop” for Pending Phase I and II Applicants
September 14, 2007, Charlottesville, VA

Noon-4PM

NOTE:  This Workshop Immediately Follows the Free Life Science & Biotech Funding Event.

This popular workshop reviews a "checklist" covering the key competitive areas of your SBIR and STTR proposal, allowing you to consider making appropriate modifications before you submit it.  You need an EXEMPLARY proposal to win SBIR funding – simply providing the minimum inhibits your chances of an award.  This workshop shows how to make your proposal stand out.  Networking and discussions with the professional SBIR instructor and CIT representatives available before and after the workshop.

A great refresher course, this workshop is ideal for novice and experienced grant writers who want to make their next SBIR or STTR proposal more competitive.

Event is ideal for those targeting the September 19 DoD SBIR, Nov. 21 Dept. of Energy SBIR/STTR, Dec. 4 NSF SBIR/STTR, and Dec. 5 NIH SBIR/STTR deadlines.

Topics covered include:

  • Have you adequately defined your opportunity?
  • Have you appropriately related the issues to the agency’s needs?
  • Has the project/research plan been written to meet the reviewer’s needs and designed to take advantage of reviewer habits?
  • Have you provided a sufficiently deep technical discussion?
  • Will your document convince the reviewer of intent and ability to commercialize?
  • Have you showcased your resources to best advantage?
  • Is your commercialization plan adequate?
  • Have you discussed the “Value Chain” effect sufficiently?
  • A take-home “Competitive Checklist” will be provided
