CIT Funding Sources
11:30 AM - 01:30 PM
Entrepreneurial researchers, PostDocs and existing small tech firms are invited to attend a free CIT Funding Session to learn about the funding support that CIT has for university spinouts and early stage tech based companies in the Commonwealth.
The session will include the following:
SBIR/STTR Grant Intro:
Small Business Innovation Research grants and Small Business Technology Transfer grants provide $150K-$1M to prove out early stage, high risk, high payoff research that has a strong chance of commercialization if the technology works. 11 federal agencies participate in the program, with the goal to help them solve their technology challenges. Learn the basics of the SBIR/STTR programs, the benefits of SBIR/STTR funding, if it is a fit with your research, and how CIT’s Federal Funding Assistance Program can support SBIR and STTR applicants in Virginia at no cost.
-
NOTE: CIT is hosting a two day SBIR Workshop Oct. 3-4 at the Skelton Conference Center – find out is SBIR or STTR is for you so you may consider attending the in depth proposal workshop.
CIT GAP Funds Intro:
The CIT GAP Funds provide seed investments into early stage, high growth potential technology companies and university spinouts in Virginia. Investment ranges between $50K and $200K, and is in the form of convertible debt. Learn about the investment criteria and how to apply.
CRCF Grants Intro:
The Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund (CRCF) invests in science and technology based research in Virginia. The program has one or two solicitations per year, and includes programs that focus on both university researchers as well as early stage technology companies. The programs provide $50K-$100K grants for projects that further the Commonwealth’s strategic technology priorities and goals as set forth in the Commonwealth Research and Technology Strategic Roadmap. Learn about the next solicitation and what you need to do to apply for funding.
-
NOTE: The current $1.6 million CRCF solicitation targets research and commercialization at Virginia public and private universities and nonprofit research institutions. A required letter of intent due on Sept. 13 and final applications due Oct. 4. Details, including assistance resources, webinars, FAQs and application checklists, are available on CIT’s website at http://www.cit.org/initiatives/crcf/fy2014-solicitation/.
