Nancy Vorona
Vice President, Research Investment
As leader of CIT's Research Investment team, Nancy Vorona's responsibilities focus on establishing and strengthening technology industry clusters in Virginia. She is responsible for developing the Commonwealth Research & Technology Strategic Roadmap, and she manages the Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund. She also leads CIT's translational research initiatives in areas such as marine sciences, energy, and national security. Prior to her appointment as Vice President of Research Investment, Nancy was CIT's Senior Industry Director for Advanced Materials and Electronics. In that role, Nancy was responsible for strengthening each of these industries in Virginia by working with companies to identify and solve critical issues facing these sectors.
Nancy’s professional experience in electronics includes several years in marketing and sales management with International Rectifier Corporation, a U.S. manufacturer of power semiconductors based in California. Ms. Vorona was also responsible for international marketing and sales for Integrated Display Technology Ltd., a Hong Kong manufacturer of consumer electronic products. In 1993, she joined the Virginia Economic Development Partnership to establish and increase the international business of Virginia's information technology and telecommunications companies. Nancy joined CIT in 1998.
Nancy received a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona.
