Welcome to our website.
The Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) is based in one of the most unusual and eye-catching buildings in the Northern Virginia region. One question we often get is, “What exactly goes on in that odd-shaped building near Washington Dulles International Airport?”
Our answer always ties into the roots of CIT and our vision, which we’ve now branded “Innovation Happening.” Technological innovation brings the promise of a better quality of life for everyone. This extends to new cures for disease, advances in materials, resolution of environmental problems, robotic automations, high-speed communications and so on. Technological superiority is the backbone of our nation’s defense system. Innovative technologies maximize government and industry operations and equally as important, innovation fuels our global economic leadership. Advances in science and technology have enabled us to create new solutions that address a myriad of challenges and, by doing so, have stimulated new employment opportunities for our citizens. Key to our nation’s continued economic prosperity is our ability to be the global leader in innovation.
In 2005, CIT celebrated 20 years of national leadership in innovation acceleration. The results of two decades of leadership include building the foundations for hundreds of advanced technology companies and research facilities. Today, CIT scientists, entrepreneurs and professionals monitor and analyze emerging technologies and the development stages of new technology companies to identify gaps in the development process. Gaps significant enough to prevent an entrepreneur from starting a new company or growing an existing one translate into challenges for CIT to resolve.
To address these competitive pressures, we operate four clear service lines that correspond to the needs of the emerging technology marketplace. CIT Entrepreneur, CIT R&D, CIT Broadband and CIT Connect are service lines that deliver high value solutions to their corresponding markets. Each service line is branded to establish a clear identity for its current and future customers.
Opportunities to close gaps in the innovation continuum will always exist. The process of accelerating technology is iterative and requires constant monitoring and adjustment. Through programs such as CIT Connect, we are closing the innovation gap. As we look ahead, we are confident that our services will deliver high value to our clients and strengthen our global leadership in technological innovation now and in future generations.
