Nancy Vorona's leadership of CIT's Research Investment team includes strategy and program development for CIT's translational research initiatives in such areas as marine sciences, energy, life sciences, and nanotechnology. Virginia's ability to capitalize on emerging fields and industry drivers requires the identification and pursuit of specialized market segments. Prior to her appointment as Vice President of Research Investment, Ms. Vorona was CIT's Senior Industry Director for Advanced Materials and Electronics. In that role, Ms. Vorona was responsible for strengthening each of these industries in Virginia by working with industry to identify and solve critical issues facing these sectors.

Ms. Vorona's professional experience in electronics includes several years in marketing and sales management with International Rectifier Corporation, a U.S. manufacturer of power semiconductors based in California. Ms. Vorona was also responsible for international marketing and sales for Integrated Display Technology Ltd., a Hong Kong manufacturer of consumer electronic products. In 1993, she joined the Virginia Economic Development Partnership to establish and increase the international business of Virginia's information technology and telecommunications companies. Ms. Vorona joined CIT in 1998.

Ms. Vorona received a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona.
