Scotton has twenty-two years of experience building businesses and raising capital in the telecommunications, media, search engine and online advertising industries. In 1994 he started The Phillips Group, a London-based telecommunications research, advisory and tradeshow company. Beginning with a $2.5 million capital investment, Scotton and his team built The Phillips Group into a $47 million global technology online and off-line content firm which became one of the UK’s fastest growing private companies. In November 2000, the company was purchased by New York media investment bank, Veronis Suhler & Associates. In 2001, Scotton led a management “buy-in” of Virginia-based SynXis Corporation’s search engine assets, renaming it Innovectra Corporation. Scotton and his team of six engineers bootstrapped the company and within six months won a multi-million dollar contract with Verizon Yellow Pages. By 2006 the company had grown to $6 million in revenue with 5 of the top 7 Yellow Pages publishers using the company’s search engine platform.
Prior to starting The Phillips Group and Innovectra, Mr. Scotton was Vice President and Group Publisher at PPI, a $300 million consumer and business-to-business content company located in suburban Washington D.C.
Scotton graduated from Western Maryland College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and English.
